The AIDS-ET Connection
Published in Spiral-bound by Cosmos Press (01 May, 1999)
Average review score:

The material presented is Earth shaking in nature.Numerous books have been written pertaining to the alien abduction phenomenon, but none to date have even touched on the material contained in this work. This history making text will prove to be a document of such significant scientific merit that it will become required reading for anyone researching the alien abduction field. The material presented is earth shaking in nature. In some circles the subject of alien abduction is still only talked about in whispers. In certain geographical areas abductions take on a more sinister overtone. We don't hear much locally about human mutilations but in other countries they are commonplace. Such is also true with the AIDS epidemic. These are not subjects that are discussed among the populace in an open manner. Only time and research will enlighten the human species. This book, The AIDS-ET Connection, is ONLY the beginning.

The All-American Quote Book
Published in Paperback by Harvest House Publishers, Inc. (December, 1995)
Average review score:

Great little book with lots of humorThis book was written by Michael Reagan, son of former President Ronald Reagan, and radio talk show host. Bob Phillips is a humorist and author. The book has over 2000 quotes covering hundreds of topics by Americans and about Americans. It also has lots of bible quotes and quotes by other non-Americans such as Alexander Pope and Cervantes for example. Quotes: Where do you go to get anorexia? ~Shelley Winters. Of two evils, choose neither. ~ Charles Spurgeon. Once I was a tapole when I began to begin. Then I was a frog with my tail tucked in. Next I was a monkey on a coconut tree. Now I am a doctor with a Ph.D. ~Anon. If you don't get everything you want, think of the things you don't get that you dont want. ~ Oscar Wilde.

The best guide to rivers in MaineThis is the guide book to get if you are thinking of doing a river trip in Maine. The information in it has been thoroughly checked and is very accurate. It tells you if you need permits for campsites and even tells you the quality for those sites. It has excellent detailed descriptions of all significant rapids and even suggests the best route to take. It has every conceivable trip from a half-day to a week or more. As a professional in the field, this is a book that I rely when planning any canoe expeditions in the state.

The American Century 2-Volume Boxed Set: Art and Culture, 1900-2000
Published in Hardcover by W.W. Norton & Company (February, 2000)
Average review score:

Better Than Peter Jenning's VersionHaskell and Phillips' literary companion vividly preserves a wonderful exhibition of art for those who were unable to make it to the Whitney to see it, and, for those who did and wish to relive The American Century again and again. The vivid reproductions of the art, along with thoughtful, relevant writing offers readers and art enthusiasts a thrilling, in-depth look at the best of American art and culture in the last century. The book, as well as the exhibit, works equally well as a history text, and would be a valuable asset to any high school history classroom. The book's aesthetic appeal makes it perfect for display on any bookshelf of coffee table--which is a shame. Sadly, many people might neglect the actual text, which is as detailed and valuable synopsis of American history in the twentieth century as any other printed to date.

But "Chekhov for Children" is something quite different. The best single essay I have ever read (actually I have read it at least 5 times), it captures (and moves) me every time. If you work with kids, you need to read it. If you wonder if literature if important, you need to read it. If you like neither kids nor literature, you should still read it. Simply extraordinary.
